¿Quién fundó el budismo y cuándo?

El príncipe Sidharta Gautama (Buda) nació en la India en el año 563 antes de Cristo. A los 29 años, Gautama dejó a su esposa e hijos para buscar la iluminación espiritual. Estudió brahmanismo y casi en ayunas a la muerte, pero llegó a rechazar este camino. En el año 535 aC, se creía haber llegado a la iluminación, asumió el título de Buda, y poco después comenzó a enseñar sobre el camino a la iluminación.
