The Chinese New Year is the most important holiday in China. Based on Taoist belief, the New Year is an important time to honor ancestors, gods, and living elders. The three-week long festivities include lavish feasts, new clothes, firecrackers, and the famous dragon and lion dances. It is also a time of visiting family and friends, good wishes, and reconciliation.
