January 5, 2007, Newsletter Issue #77: What are Theravada Buddhism´s Scriptures?

Tip of the Week

Theravada Buddhism´s main Scriptures are Tipitaka (believed to be the teachings of the Buddha),

grouped into three divisions: the Suttanta Pitaka, or general discourses; the Vinaya Pitaka, or moral code for monks and nuns; and the Abhidhamma Pitaka, or
philosophical teachings.
